Hey Cutie Orange Card with Trinity Stamps

Sunday, July 12, 2026

For today's card I started by die cutting a bunch of circles from orange cardstock using the Clean Cut Layer Circle Set A, sizing them to match the cutie from the Hey Cutie stamp set from Trinity Stamps, then stamped the cutie image onto orange cardstock as well. I used Guppy and Check Engine Stellar Inks with a blending buddy to darken the edges of all the circles and around the stamped cutie, then pressed the Check Engine ink onto my glass board, added water, and used a paintbrush to splatter it all over the orange pieces for texture. I also picked up a little white fine art paint and splattered that on top, but lifted it before it fully dried so it left more of a soft pale white spatter rather than a bright opaque dot.

For the paper pieced focal image, I stamped the cutie again onto alcohol marker friendly white cardstock and colored in just the leaf and stem with alcohol markers, and fussy cut both pieces to paper piece the colored leaf and stem. I then stamped one more cutie onto plain white cardstock and die cut it with the coordinating Hey Cutie die, finishing it off by stamping the "Hey Cutie" sentiment in Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink and cutting that out with its coordinating die as well.

To build the card front I trimmed a white panel down to 4x5-1/4" and arranged all of my orange circles across the whole panel, trimming off any pieces that hung over the edges and gluing them down so the whole surface felt full and covered. I then die cut the Waffle Texture cover plate die from blue cardstock, glued it right on top of the orange panel, and trimmed any excess off the edges so the whole thing looked just like a bag of cuties you would grab at the grocery store, which I am completely obsessed with as a concept for a card!

I glued the finished panel to a top folding A2 card base, then popped up both the sentiment and the paper pieced cutie with foam adhesive for dimension, and added a few Sapphire Sparkle Spots with liquid glue scattered around the card to bring in a little shine and break up all that orange so the card felt balanced and finished.
