Tattered Christmas Cards with Whimsy Stamps

Sunday, October 31, 2021

Today is a new Whimsy Stamps release and I'm excited to share two of the products with you today - the Slimline Holly Embossing Folder and Tattered Christmas Clear Stamps with its Outlining Dies! I was originally going to create one card, but I loved the individual elements so much, it turned into two.

I stamped all the images in brown ink and went with pastel colors for coloring as I thought the softness would be so pretty with brown. The only bold color I brought in was the darker green cardstock as it reminded me the colors I chose to color in the pine sprigs where my ornaments are hanging.

I kept the colors the same for all elements and am trying to be better at creating more eye-pleasing cards by only choosing a few colors and sticking with the same colors across all the images. Overall, I just love how these vintage looking cards turned out!

I'll have more to share this week of other new items, but I'd love for you to go take a look and tell me what your favorite new product is in the comments! Don't forget to watch the video down below for how these cards came together and of course there will be another Instagram hop to celebrate, so keep your eye out...

Inside the Cafe & Sweet Shoppe Cards with Lawn Fawn

Abigail and I worked on some scene cards this weekend! We used the latest Craft Roulette challenge parameters to make our card: 5x7 landscape, green + 2 colors, shopping and paper strips.

For my card, I used purple and green and the paper strips are used for the flooring inside the cafe and book shop. The couple bought some coffee and are sitting inside enjoying the pretty green, teal and purple colors inside the cafe.

Abigail wanted her scene to be a sweet shoppe (we like to say it like, "shop-pay" to be silly)! So while she did sort of follow my layout, she made it her own by using green, teal and red with lots of sweets all over the shoppe.

She did a great job coloring her puppy - she liked the puppy from Lawn Fawn and colored it to look like an Australian Shepherd.

They were big scenes/cards to make, but they turned out so cute and look more like decoration than a card! Plus, it finally gave me a chance to use some VERY old Lawn Fawn patterned paper that I cannot even reference in the supply list because it's retired many releases ago.

Did you participate in the challenge, too?

Decorate a Slimline Tree with Whimsy Stamps

Friday, October 29, 2021

I have another card for you today using only die cuts! Whimsy Stamps releases amazing die sets that can really transform a card. I just love when you can make a card with no stamping as it really pushes me to try something different than normal.

While I did not do any stamping, I did do some coloring. I did add some Distress Ink on my tree die pieces to help give them shadow and dimension as well as some alcohol markers to add shadow to the ornaments, tree trunk and its pot. I also colored in the flames on the candles as well as my star on top of the tree.

You can see everything I did to make this card in the video down below. Do you like making cards without any stamping?

Hangry Christmas with Feed Me from Whimsy Stamps

Wednesday, October 27, 2021

Hi Friends! I really thought I'd be sharing my last Halloween card of the season... Which was totally my intention when starting out this card... After all, I was live with my friend Debbie J on her YouTube Channel and we were supposed to be making Halloween cards.

But the more I worked on my card, the colors I chose just screamed Christmas! I was going for blood splatter and green to match my Audrey II stamp, but it ended up just looking like a bloody Christmas card. So I embraced it and changed my sentiment to match.

Have you ever made a horror Christmas card before? I'd love to know so leave a comment! I actually really like how it turned out and I just might have go make a few more... This card went to a lucky person who was watching and chatting during the live, but I definitely plan to make a few more to send to those who I know would appreciate a good laugh!

Hope you'll watch the replay if you were not able to tune in, and let me know below if you mix horror fandom with your holiday cards.

Filled with Magic with Whimsy Stamps

Tuesday, October 26, 2021

I think this will be one of my last Halloween cards for the year! I have plans for one more this week, but this is the last one I made to be sent out in the mail.

The inspiration for this card is from the latest Craft Roulette #84 but I made a mistake... I forgot that one of the requirements was for the card to be landscape... So while I love my card like it's shown below, I had to do some quick peeling and re-gluing to submit it to the challenge!

The four parameters for this challenge were:

1. Project: slimline landscape
2. Colors: orange background
3. Element: jar or glass
4. Random: three layers

So down below you can see how I adjusted it to be a slimline card in landscape, I used orange cardstock to create an orange background, there is a potion jar of "eye of newt" and the three layers on the card are the orange background, slimline frame die cut and my stamped images!

So while my card had to be adjusted, I think I still like it more in the original layout - what do you think? Did you participate in the latest challenge? Abigail went a complete different way with her card and you can check it out on her new Instagram account - @abi.taylor.made!

Merry Pup-Mas! Christmas Puppies Slimline Card with Whimsy Stamps

Thursday, October 21, 2021

Abigail and I had some fun creating these fun fold slimline cards using the latest Craft Roulette parameters. Abigail chose the fold and overall theme and I picked the products! I have really been loving making these cards together on the weekends.

Have you watched Craft Roulette? Here's the YouTube channel and website if you haven't and want to learn more about the live shows and challenge!

This week's parameters for a card was to have a FUNN Fold, use any 4 colors (not including neutrals and metallics), an element of "It's a Dog's Life" and XOXO. Abigail liked the idea of a Z-Fold slimline card and we both liked the Whimsy Stamps set Pups for Christmas. We used lots of neutrals along with red, yellow, green and blue and included XOXO in our sentiment!

Have you tried a z-fold slimline card before?

It's time for another Whimsy Stamps video hop and this month our theme is "It's Right Behind Me, Isn't It?" Each of the hop designers are using the Slimline Cityscape Die Set on their cards so you're going to get a lot of fun ideas with this die set for this Halloween season.

I thought it would be fun to use some aliens die sets with this month's theme - having a family admiring the lights from the city and then get abducted by a visiting, tall alien!

Quick & Easy Pocket Cards with Whimsy Stamps

Tuesday, October 12, 2021

Abigail and I created some cards for the latest Craft Roulette parameters! We kept it SUPER simple as we were going to be gone all weekend and we wanted to play along. 😊 We created a Z-Fold card using blue cardstock so we had a blue background, added a large pocket to slide in a gift card, and painted purple a few wood embellishments to add as details on our cards.

Did you play along? I had a hard time with the pocket element, but I think they turned out cute and are going to be great birthday or congratulatory cards.
