Thinking of You Slimline Cards with Butterflies

Friday, August 5, 2022

Two for one today! I made these matching slimline cards using the beautiful Spring Floral Slimline Die and layering Butterflies 1 Dies from Scrapbook.com. I did a LOT of puzzle piecing for these backgrounds...  But it was worth it in the end! I just love how the backgrounds turned out.

One background I left white from the cardstock and the other I distressed using purple and pink Distress Oxides. I used my Distress Sprayer and metallic watercolor to add some splatter and shine to the distressed paper. I added some tape from my large 6" adhesive roll to the back of the cardstock pieces and then die cut them both with the Spring Floral Slimline Die.

I peeled off the negative die cut space (the frame part of the die cut) and added them to slimline card bases. Then I pieced in the butterflies and floral pieces - switch them out to put the pink/purple piece into the white frame and the white pieces into the pink/purple frame.

Once I finally finished that (and took a break), I die cut my butterflies out of a sheet from my Roses Smooth Cardstock pack and the shadow die from silver from the Mixed Metals paper pack. I added a little Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide to the center of the butterflies and glued the center to the silver shadow.

The sentiment is embossed in silver on to black cardstock and I cut around the sentiment with a paper trimmer and scissors. There is a layer of silver paper just like my butterflies! I popped the butterflies and the sentiment onto the card base using adhesive foam strips and added some Silver Glitter Pops of Color throughout the cards!

I hope you like these cards - they make me so happy and I just love the colors with the silver shine! Let me know what colors you would make your butterflies in the comments.
