Don’t Feed the Plants! A Little Shop-Inspired Card with The Sassy Club

Today’s card is inspired by one of my favorite campy classics, Little Shop of Horrors! I wanted to create a spooky-fun scene that felt like stepping right into the musical. I started by die cutting a piece of lime green cardstock with the Admit One A7 die from Popsiclesticks, then used The Sassy Club’s Vines stencil with Distress Inks in Twisted Citron and Pine Needles to build the background. Once the ink was dry, I stamped a few vine details from the stamp set in Green Oasis and Grass Green inks to add extra depth and texture. The shop building was die cut from Pencil Eraser cardstock and given a brick texture with Miss Ink Stamps’ Cobblestone stencil using Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany inks. I darkened the door and window frame cut out of Lime Green with Pine Needle, used Powder Green cardstock for the glass, and added a “bloody” splatter from the Hungry Plant stamp set in Tulip Red—because this shop definitely has a bite!

The awning might be my favorite part. I alternated strips of bright red and white cardstock for that retro vibe, gluing the top edge flat and using one millimeter foam adhesive on the bottom to make it pop off the building. My mischievous shopkeeper, holding a rather hungry-looking plant, was stamped in Onyx Black ink, colored with OLO markers, and highlighted with a white gel pen before being popped up in front of the shop. To finish it off, I glued the whole panel onto a 6.5 by 5-inch card base and added the perfect touch inside—“Mushnik’s Flower Shop” and the cheeky sentiment “Feed me cake and tell me I’m pretty.” It’s a fun, slightly sassy nod to one of my all-time favorite monster musicals!
