Hi friends! Today I am sharing a fun throwback card inspired by one of my favorite 90s cartoons. I started by stamping my characters from the Basketball Buddies stamp set using black ink and coloring them with alcohol markers. Once everything was colored, I fussy cut each image and added a few white gel pen highlights to their cheeks for a little extra personality. For my background, I cut a piece of red brick pattern paper using an A2 rectangle die and adhered it to a white card base. Then I created a layered focal panel by die cutting black cardstock with a small rectangle die and building a custom background on white cardstock using a checkered stencil and yellow ink. I added extra interest by stamping some organic blob shapes in green tones, then finished it with a light splatter of orange pearl watercolor before die cutting it to size.

Once my background panel was ready, I adhered it to the black mat and popped the entire piece up onto the card base using thin foam adhesive. I arranged my characters on top, also using foam adhesive to give them dimension and bring the scene to life. To finish the design, I created a bold sentiment using the Fun House Alpha die set by cutting the word “hey” twice from white cardstock and once from yellow. I stacked the white layers for dimension and offset the yellow layer slightly to create a playful drop shadow effect. I adhered the sentiment above the characters, slightly off to the right to balance the taller figure on the left, and that completed my card.
