Spellbinders 2023 BetterPress of the Month - Quick and Easy Card Ideas!

Wednesday, September 6, 2023

I have been a busy bee with the new Spellbinders Club Kits for September 2023 and have two videos to share with you today. This post has my quick and easy thank you cards (or Thanksgiving) using the BetterPress of the Month and my other post has colorful cards with the Clear Stamp & Die of the Month!

In my video I'm sharing how I used backgrounds that I've been hoarding saving and while they were not on the cotton card panels, you still can get an amazing impression! I coordinating different inks depending on the watercolored looking papers I had to match and even coordinated the sentiments. I love how quick and easy these card were to put together and am definitely going to make more with more of my extra backgrounds I have.

My video is also a part of a hop today! A few other Spellbinder creators have YouTube videos to share how we used the different club kits to make projects. I'm excited to see how others may have used the BetterPress or Clear Stamp of the Month - it's exciting to see how different creators use the same products for more inspiration! So make sure to watch the video on YouTube so you can see the hop links.

Spellbinders 2023 Clear Stamp & Die of the Month - Two Different Color Schemes!

It's a new month with means new Spellbinders Club Kits for September 2023 and have two videos to share with you today. This post has my colorful cards with the Clear Stamp & Die of the Month and my other post has quick and easy thank you cards (or Thanksgiving) using the BetterPress of the Month

While these two cards have a very similar layout, they look so unique due to the different colors. I went very traditional in my colors for the card below on the left and then went the opposite with cool colors for the card on the right.

In my video today, I'm sharing how I colored my images in with my Distress Watercolor Pencils and then created my background with an embossing folder, hot foil plate and layering stencils. I hope you like my inspiration today with the the new kits and I'm excited to get my Glimmer Hot Foil kit in the mail (I'm just a subscriber for that club) to share more inspiration later in the month!

Happy Halloweeds with Whimsy Stamps

Tuesday, September 5, 2023

One of my favorite sets from Whimsy Stamps is this adorable Halloweeds Stamp Set. It's just a silly little jar of cute Halloween things and I like to use it every year. For this year, it's the star of the show on this 5x7 card! I'm playing along with last Friday's episode of Craft Roulette and it also worked perfectly for this month's Show Us Your SheetLoad sketch!

I started with finding toner sheets I liked best from Whimsy Stamps and used my laminator to add orange foil to spiders and green foil to the vines. Using Distress Inks, I blended purple onto the spiders and green onto the vines along with some water and shiny splatter. I cut them down following the sketch and layered the three panels onto a piece of black cardstock.

Next I wrapped some orange twine around the panel like a belt and popped it up to a sheet of grey cardstock that was trimmed slightly smaller than 5x7, then adhered that to my 5x7 card base. I die cut the largest nested web die out of black cardstock and embossed my sentiment in white. I popped it up on the card a little lower than I normally do to follow the card sketch.

My image was stamped and colored with alcohol markers (I love all the little images under the leaves) inspired by veggies I would imagine would be at a farm house - eggplants, carrots, pumpkins, lettuce... I fussy cut around the image and used a white gel pen to cover up any part of the stamped image I didn't want showing. I also popped it up to the card, just above my sentiment, and grabbed my White Pops of Color to add clusters of Pops.

I hope you like my take on the two challenges and make sure to check out all of the amazing Halloween products from Whimsy Stamps! There is also more coming out this month I'm excited to share with you!

Not Another Halloween Card Collaboration with Bitty Penny using Scrappy Tails Crafts

Monday, September 4, 2023

I know, the blog title is probably throwing you off because I love making Halloween cards. But my crafty virtual friend, Bitty Penny, asked if I would collaborate with her for her first video in her "Not Another Halloween Card" mini series on her YouTube Channel and of course I jumped at the chance. We're using Scrappy Tails Crafts products and part of my guest design team package was the Cute Halloween Party products... Which was going to be a tough one to figure out how to use these products in a non-Halloween way.

But I wanted to share how you can use these Halloween party invitation products in a non-Halloween way... and what better than using it for a cat themed party! Or maybe... a party for your cat. hehe! I hope you enjoy today's video and make sure to hop over to Bitty Penny's channel to watch her video, she made an amazing fandom themed card. She knows I love my pop culture and my card was inspired by her amazing talent at making 5x7 cards!

Halloween Release from The Sassy Club + 3 Card Ideas!

Sunday, September 3, 2023

I'm so excited that the Halloween release from The Sassy Club is here and I was able to get a few of the goodies a little early to share some inspiration so you can shop before any of it sells out! Plus there's a coupon for 15% off most items in the shop, so open up The Sassy Club shop in a new tab so you can get to spending after reading my blog post and watching my video here.

My video today is a long one, but I wanted to leave in most of what I worked on in the video - from coloring, die cutting, stenciling to card assembly - so you can see all of my steps. I've also started slowing down my videos to 1.5x the speed instead of 2x as I've gotten some comments that I go too fast in my videos and more requests for coloring. So I'm hoping you all don't mind the longer videos and that they are easier to following along with and that you like seeing more of the coloring in the videos!

I start off with stamping and coloring all of my image and then use my Scan N Cut to cut them out. Then I move into die cutting from the new Halloween Town and Poison Apple die sets. Next is stenciling my background for my Halloween Town card and letting it dry while I work on my two mini slimline card assemblies. Finally, we build the final card together and another look at all three cards so you can see these new products in action! I hope you enjoy today's inspiration!

Cards for Kindness - Just a Note Card with Scrapbook.com

Saturday, September 2, 2023

Loving the latest Cards for Kindness stamp set! But what's even more exciting is that comes in an amazing bundle for a limited time, so make sure you shop while you can this weekend. The bundle includes the new Pinks A2 Smooth Cardstock Pad and scripty sentiment dies. I started my card with taking a sheet of the lighter pinks and stamping the larger flower randomly with embossing ink and used clear embossing powder.

Next I ink smooshed some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide all around the cardstock and then inked up the edges with a foam blender. Then I grabbed a sheet of a darker pink and my Nested A2 Rectangles dies. I used dies next to each other in size to create a second panel with the same cardstock. I glued the layers together, adhered at the A2 panel to a card base and popped up the center panel with foam adhesive.

I stamped the "You Are Awesome" sentiment with black ink (although I'd recommend doing this before adhering it to the card base) and stamped a couple butterflies on white cardstock as well. Then I die cut my sentiment out a middle pink cardstock and used some pink ink to create an ombre effect. I glued this to the shadow die cut out of white cardstock and glued this above my stamped sentiment.

My butterflies were colored in with glitter brush pens in pink and I fussy cut them out. I glued them to the card and then added some pink Pops of Color around the card. I really like how this majorly pink card turned out (really giving me some Barbie vibes) and I hope you enjoy playing with this Cards for Kindness bundle, too!

Wicked Cute (and My Attempt at Mixed Media) with Whimsy Stamps

Friday, September 1, 2023

Can you believe that it is September?! I'm seriously shocked at how fast this year is flying by and that we are just that much closer to Halloween. There is a new release today from Whimsy Stamps and I'm featuring a few of the products on today's card! I will say, I really stepped out of my comfort zone for a couple of things on this card... I attempted a tiny bit of mixed media technique on this card and I was just so stinking nervous the whole time!

I am such a Type A person and getting messy and not having structure is so hard for me when making projects. I barely even scratched the surface, but that was enough for me on this project, haha! You can follow along with my video down below, but I started with making my background with pumpkin die cuts, added my sentiment and some texture paste with a stencil, then added my images and some random stamping with bats.

While I made some missteps along the way, I think it still turned out pretty darn cute and my little devil is inspired by my brother. He had a devil costume as a toddler and this just makes me think of him!
